Where book 1 felt like a spin on something familiar, this book 2 comes into its own much more.
It nicely builds upon everything its prequel laid out while continuing the trend of upending my assumptions about who characters are or how things might play out.
This one doesn’t end on quite as bad of a cliffhanger, but it sure sets up quite an interesting situation for the next book to pick up!
It also felt far less thesaurusy than book 1.
